Puerto Plata

The main town on the north coast is Puerto Plata, which is 20 mins drive (west) of the International Airport. In the town you will find different stores, markets, banks, churches, hospitals and many more.

The Amber museum is situated right in the middle of town; here you can see some fascinating pieces of Amber found in the mountains behind Puerto Plata Other historical points are the San felipe Fortress, and the highest point in the north coast is Mount Isabel de Torres, to reach the top can be done so by the cable car and at the top of the Mountain you can see the full views of Puerto Plata, beautiful botanical gardens and an amazing statue of Jesus Christ.
